Object Name Sign, Trade
Description Hand-painted advertisement on heavy cardstock for the Commonwealth Bank painted by Herman G. Jahnke of Walker and Company. The sign depicts the heads of a man and woman outside the open door of a partially visible car.. The surrounding text reads, "We saved plenty with an... Auto Loan," "Commonwealth Bank," "Consult Us First, And Save." A Walker and Company sticker has also been affixed to the verso, near the lower left corner, with the information, "No. 6676, Date 5-19-47." Another sticker with the handwritten numbers, "9-47," has been affixed near the lower right. A label from Lewis Artist Supply at 6408 Woodward Avenue is also on the verso. A handwritten note on the verso also identifies Herman G. Jahnke as both the artist and the artist director.
