Description Photograph. Sepia-toned photo showing underground electrical duct banks that are to be mortared in place in the side of a brick manhole. The view looks along the bottom of an excavated trench from the inside of a manhole that is under construction. Two duct banks (with conduits that are arranged 3 horizontally and 4 vertically) are visible at the center of the photo. The bare earth along the sides of the open trench can be seen in the background. Handwritten text on the verso shows "Laying of first electric lighting conduit."
