Description Print. Black and white photographic print of a window display at the J.L. Hudson Company Department Store. The image of a man and woman, Hudson employees, is featured in the display proudly wearing the badge of the Hudson Brigadier Gallants. Signage if flanked by two American flags and six smaller signs. The central piece of signage reads, "All of us wearing this badge are Hudson Brigadier Gallants, Each Gallant is pledged to make every effort possible to sell at least $1,000 worth of War Bonds during the Third Victory Loan Drive. We invite you to purchase your War Bonds from a Hudson Gallant." The six smaller signs read (from top to bottom and left to right), "It only takes a few minutes to buy a Bond from a Hudson Brigadier-Gallant. Your Bond will be mailed to you within 24 hours after you sign the application; Hudson Volunteer Brigadier-Gallants number several hundred strong. You'll find them in every department on every floor-ready to take your application for War Bond purchase now! In the Second War Loan, last April, Hudson Gallants sold 12,464 Bonds for a total of $1,396,025 at Maturity. They hope to sell twice that amount in this Third War Loan drive during September! To volunteer as a Gallant, go to the Bond Issuing Office on Hudson's Eleventh Floor, to any other retail store bond issuing office or to Michigan War Savings Headquarters, 6th Floor, Union Guardian Building. Hudson Gallants will be glad to tell you how to sign up! Every Hudson Brigadier-Gallant takes this pledge: I will urge my family, my friends, my neighbors, my fellow-workers to buy more war bonds. I will do my level best to sell at least $1,000 worth. I will report my sales on or before September 30. All Hudson Brigadier-Gallants will bear Badges as shown here, so you can identify them in the Store or when they call on you as authorized Bond Salesmen." Signage is affixed in the bottom central foreground and reads, "Buy U.S. War Savings Bonds, Immediate Delivery, WAR BONDS, 11th Floor, Woodward, Section D." The photographic sequence number, and date are printed on the bottom of the recto, "18870-14x; 9-2-43."
