Scope & Content Hardcover ledger book, bound in a grey cover printed with "Journal," used by Martin Cooney, the Superintendent of Horses for the Detroit Fire Department to record both the shifts and absences of workers at the department's supply stables, spanning February 18, 1902 to January 13, 1907, as well as the supply and consumption of hay and oats by the department's horses, from January 1, 1902 to December 15, 1906. The worker's arrivals and departures are listed on pages 3 through 19, while the supply of feed is documented on pages 1 and 2, as well as 164 through 200. "Supply Stables" and "Chief Martin Cooney" are handwritten on the front free endpaper.
